Orchids Nail & Beauty Academy proudly organised and sponsored this year’s Trends & Spends Expo in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice. The event, which was held at the Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club, was a massive success, raising £160 on the raffle alone. A number of the supporting businesses made donations also. Thanks to everyone who took part and made the day so enjoyable.
Following the huge success of our courses in Jersey last year, we will be returning to deliver further training in 2011. |

The Course
This course is the ultimate path to becoming a qualified Nail Technician. It has been designed to allow a total beginner the opportunity to learn the most widely practised nail therapies in the industry today: Manicure, Pedicure, Acrylic Nails, UV Gel Nails and a free ‘bonus’ Workshop of your choice. In addition to the mandatory course content you will receive informed guidance on Best Practice and an extensive overview of products available on the market today.
The Course Content
The course content is an assimilation of each of the four therapies. Please refer to the individual course contents listed below for details.
The Requirements
No previous experience is necessary. Salon wear must be worn at all times. Students must have nails free from enhancement, as students will practice on each other. You will be required to bring a model on assessment days. Identification must be presented during registration on the first day of your course.

The Course
Manicure is one of the most widely practiced beauty rituals. The course covers the entire Manicure procedure, using the Hand Therapy line of products. The course focuses on the natural nail, hand and lower part forearm anatomy and physiology, for a comprehensive understanding of the Manicure process.

The Course
The four day Foundation Course is designed to provide a platform upon which the amateur can develop their skills. The course has been carefully constructed to provide the right mix of practical and theoretical knowledge which will enable you to progress in your career as a nail professional. Your practical assessment will be on day four.

UV Gel Nails |
The Course
The four day Foundation Course is designed to provide a platform upon which the amateur can develop their skills. The course has been carefully constructed to provide the right mix and knowledge which will enable you to progress in your career as a nail professional. Your practical assessment will be on day four.
The UV Gel System

Lash Enhancements – Full Submersion |
The Course
A two day course which combines the procedures and practice of eyelash tinting and application of individual false lashes. The course focuses on the intricate practical application and procedures of treatments around the eye, paying particular attention to preparation and after care.
These treatments are semi permanent and help to enhance the appearance of the eyes by making the lashes look longer and thicker, with treatment lasting up to 6 weeks. These beauty treatments are becoming increasingly popular, with excellent profit margins.

Eyelash Tinting & Perming |
The Course
This one day course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of eyelash tinting and perming. Eyelash perming is a semi permanent method to curl eyelashes. This is an increasingly popular beauty treatment with excellent profit margins. The appearance of the eyes is enhanced as the lashes look longer and thicker, with the treatment lasting up to 6 weeks. The procedure of tinting works extremely well with perming enhancing the appearance of the lashes by adding colour.

This half day workshop is designed to show the correct application technique of gel to the toe nail, giving clients a permanent French finish that won’t damage the nail.
